Intellectual Freedom Committee Resource
List
Members of the Committee have agreed to serve as resource
persons for Iowa schools with intellectual freedom concerns. Upon request,
they will assist school personnel in developing or revising policies and
in addressing challenges to materials. They will also suggest additional
sources for further assistance. If you would like help, contact the person

Kathy is a K-12 school library media specialist at Northeast Community
Schools. She has participated in intellectual freedom workshops at the national
level and has represented IEMA at consortium meetings on the state level.
She has worked with schools as they develop/revise policies, made numerous
presentations on intellectual freedom to community groups in the state,
and provided assistance to many schools facing challenges.

Lucille is the Youth Collection Librarian at the Rod Library, University
of Northern Iowa. If you need supporting documentation for materials reconsideration
deliberations, she and her staff will supply you with materials reviews,
citations from retrospective bibliographies, grade level information, author/illustrator/publisher/producer
information, evidence of similar cases elsewhere in the country, and other
related information.

The OIF director, Judith Krug, is well-known for her work on behalf of intellectual
freedom issues. She and her staff will assist educators in developing policies
and handling challenges.
