International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

American Association of School Librarians (AASL)
"The mission of the American Association of School Librarians is to advocate excellence, facilitate change, and develop leaders in the school library media field." This is a division of the American Library Association.
 
American Library Association (ALA)
"The American Library Association provides leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all." Founded in 1876, ALA is the oldest and largest national library association in the world and has over 56,000 members.
 
Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT)
"The mission of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology is to provide leadership in educational communications and technology by linking professionals holding a common interest in the use of educational technology and its application to the learning process."
 
Association for Library Services to Children (ALSE)
"The mission of ALSC is to support the profession of children's librarianship enabling and encouraging its practitioners to provide the best library services to our nation's children. ALSC is dedicated to creating a better opportunities for today's children. Through its programs and publications, ALSC provides leadership to the profession and public on behalf of high quality library services which support children in becoming lifelong learners." This is a division of the American Library Association.
 
Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books (BCCB)
"The Center for Children's Books, affiliated with the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, has an examination collection of more than 14,000 children's books. In addition, the collection includes over 800 professional and reference books on children's literature. The Center's "Bulletin" is one of the nation's leading children's book review journals for school and public librarians." Founded in 1945, devoted entirely to the review of current books for children.
 
Children's Book Council (CBC)
"The Children's Book Council is a non-profit trade organization that has been dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children's books since 1945. Council membership is traditionally composed of U.S. children's trade book publishers, and since 1996 has also included children's book packagers and producers of book-related multimedia products for children."
 
National School Boards Association (NSBA)
The NSBA asserts that their mission is to foster equity and excellence in all aspects of public education in the United States through school board leadership. Their site is essential to school board members wanting the information services NSBA offers, including upcoming conferences and seminars, publications, training opportunities, and advocacy activites. School leaders who access this network of resources may find it helpful in creating their empowering vision.
 
North Central Regional Education Laboratory (NCREL)
"NCREL's mission is to strengthen and support schools and communities in systematic change so that all students achieve standards of educational excellence. Simply put, we're here to help teachers teach better, students learn better, administrators provide better leadership, and policy makers make better policy. As a leader in linking research and technology to learning, we accomplish our mission through policy analyses, professional development, technical assistance, and by leveraging the power of partnerships and networks." This is a not-for-profit organization, one of ten regional educational laboratories; this one serving Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
 
Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)
"The goal of the Young Adult Services Division is to advocate, promote and strengthen service to young adults as part of the continuum of total library services." This is a division of the American Library Association.

Iowa Association for Communication Technology(IACT)
"The Iowa Association for Communication Technology is an organization of media professionals from all over the state of Iowa. Our members represent all facets of media production, from administrators, to video producers, to multimedia designers. We have members from corporate, educational, medical, and government organizations. The goal of IACT is to provide its members with information on the current state of media production and communication technology as well as sponsor speakers and seminars that give practical, usable advice and tips to our members."

Iowa Distance Learning Association (IDLA)
The Iowa Distance Learning Association (IDLA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1993. It was the first state chapter of the parent organization - USDLA - the United States Distance Learning Association. "The mission of the IDLA is to bring together professionals in distance learning areas from education, corporate training, government and military organizations to share our experience, knowledge, and expertise to better serve lifelong learners."

"ILA welcomes all library staff, students, trustees, Friends of Libraries, firms and organization, and anyone interested in library issues." ILA provides a voice concerning the future of Iowa libraries; provides information on intellectual freedom and support in dealing with censorship challenges; lobbies the Iowa legislature on issues affecting all types of libraries; provides leadership in setting guidelines for library services and education; increases media exposure and public awareness of libraries and librarians."

School Administrators of Iowa (SAI)
Iowa School Administrators of Iowa is strong and viable organization that represents over 2,000 of Iowa's educational leaders.SAI membership provides professional growth opportunities, connections to other administrators, legal service, legislative representation, information through monthly newsletters, and a national presence in the the National Association of Elementary School Principals, National Association of Secondary School Principals, American Association of School Administrators.
