IEMA Membership Meeting Minutes
April 4, 2003
7:30-8:30 a.m.
Five Sullivan Brothers' Center, Waterloo, Room 12

I. President Rick Valley welcomed members to the meeting at 7:36.

II. Mia Beesley moved to approve the agenda. Susie Corbin-Muir seconded. The motion carried.

III. Approval of the minutes of the 2002 membership meeting-Sue Davis moved to approve the minutes.
Linda Foster seconded. The motion carried.

IV. Treasurer's report-Mia Beesley reported that the bottom line is $65, 023.82. Taxes have been filed
and the audit has been completed. Books close at the end of June, so please submit any other bills by then.

V. Introductions

a. Conference 2003 committee members were recognized.

b. Retiring Board members- The four retiring members of the Board of Directors, including
Cheryl Carruthers, Sue Davis, and past President Loretta Moon were presented with a plaque.
Absent was Nancy McIntire.

c. Current officers and Board members were recognized.

d. Committees-The following committee members were introduced: Cokey Powers and Chris Iossi, Audit; Sharon
Smaldino and Barb Safford, Conference 2003 co-chairs; Susan Schraeder, Conference 2004; Dale Vande Haar,
Conference 2005; Information Literacy Standards Task Force, Barbara Feuerhak; Carolyn Haney, Iowa Children's Choice;
Bonnie Raasch and Joel Shoemaker, Iowa Teen Award; Nancy Geiken and Kim Carlson, Iowa High School Book Award;
Wendy Ziegler, Legislation; Pat Murphy, Membership; Kris Moser, Nominations and Elections; Kristin Steingreaber,
Professional Growth; Jill Hofmockel, Public Relations; Becky Stover Johnson, Publications; Deborah
Dorzweiler, Research; Student Media Festival; Sue Berger, Technology; Mary Jo Langhorne and Jill Hofmockel,
Task Force.

e. Retiring members were recognized with a pin, including: Barbara Becker, Beth Riggleman, Russ Carlson,
Allene Gillespie, Marie Haley, Joan Jackson, Les Kapler, Maxine Pithan, Bonnie Rawding, and Susan Grove.

VI. New business

a. Election results-Rick Valley shared Kris Moser's written report on election results, which
were as follows: Vice President, Jill Hofmockel; Board members-Julie Larson, Marilyn Newhouse, and Joyce
Keeling

VII. Other

a. Rick Valley passed the gavel to incoming President Dale Vande Haar.

VIII. President's Award
Loretta Moon presented Rick Valley with a plaque.

IX. The meeting was adjourned at 8:24.
